IT’S A MCGREGOR FIGHT NIGHT!!!! I almost didn’t get a blog out today because of a boozy brunch and a near breakup with my girlfriend, but nevertheless here is my first blog of 2021. We got McGregor Poirier, we got Hooker Chandler, we got a bunch of other meh fights, who cares, it’s McGregor! I hate McGregor more than probably any UFC fan that also doesn’t like Khabib, but it is sooooo goddamn hard to pick against him. But I don’t fooking care I will pick and bet against whoever the fook I want. I think I have some pretty tasty positions this evening and am very excited to go back to even after taking some drunken hockey bets.

Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor Lightweight Bout
McGregor doesn’t fucking fight. This is his first top 5 opponent not named Khabib since Alvarez in 2016. He is such an incredible talent, but I will never bet on a guy that fights every year and a half who is -290. Poirier is a completely different fighter since that first bout. He won an interim belt and is the best 155 fighter not named Khabib. Look, there is a very good chance that McGregor ends up completely starching Poirier rather fast, him -160 to win by TKO KO or DQ is on my mind and probably the best bet you can make on this fight, but it’s not the most fun fight you can make on this fight.

Dan Hooker vs Michael Chandler Lightweight Bout
I like Michael Chandler, he gets very underrated having spent his whole career in Bellator. That being said, he waited way too long to make this move. Chandler is 34 and his best wins are over an old Benson Henderson twice and Eddie Alvarez a decade ago. Hooker has looked great lately learning how to use his length really well and has an incredible chin. He has fought the top of the division as well as you can, taking a round or 2 vs Poirier and beating Felder (even though I thought he lost). Hooker is going to keep this fight standing and keep his distance and just completely pick apart Chandler. City Kickboxing has been incredible lately and I expect that to continue.

Jessica Eye is not bad. Her losses are to the cream of the crop and has handled some top contenders. Joanne Calderwood isn’t bad either, but doesn’t really have any business being the favorite. She consistently loses to anyone at the top and beats up on the bottom. This will probably be a fight I chase on.

Why the fuck is this fight on the PPV? Andrew Sanchez is boring as fuck. Makhmud is actually pretty dope and I hope he knocks the shit out of Sanchez. Sanchez can’t beat anyone with actual ability, don’t see this going the distance unless Sanchez wins.

Marina Rodriguez has 2 draws in her last 5 fights which is pretty insane. She hasn’t had the greatest introduction into the UFC after having an undefeated record before her debut, but she hasn’t been terrible. Amanda Ribas is a goddamn wagon and I will not pick against her. I am also in love with her and would never want to watch her lose. She has been mowing everyone down and after destroying Mackenzie Dern I have faith that she can beat anyone not named Joanna Champion.
