Holy hell does this card stink! This is an apex card if anything, yet they are bringing this thing to Brazil? Not only do the fights kinda suck ass, the lines are even worse. How do you put together a PPV event with nearly all of the fights having a 2-1 favorite or more. Had a really bad feel for this one going through it but hoping that gives me the luck I need. In Vegas this weekend for a wedding so won’t be able to watch too much of this, probably will just catch the title fight. I made a promise to myself that I would write a picks blog for every single PPV this year and I am already regretting it in May. I guess we have a title fight, Aldo’s return, get to watch Lionheart lose, Pereira may do something fun, and the Bearjew tries to climb in the middleweight division. Alright enough negativity, time for picks:
Main Card
Alexandre Pantoja vs. Steve Erceg Flyweight Championship Bout
Pantoja has been pretty good as champ but for some reason just doesn’t give me the Champion aura. He beat Moreno fair and square and had a solid defense against Royval, why does this guy just feel like an interim to me? That’s because Erceg from down under is coming to take that belt. Does Erceg deserve this shot? Not a chance. Is he going to take that belt and shock the world? I think so. If this doesn’t turn into a wrestle fucking I see Erceg all the way.
Steve Erceg by Decision +155 1 unit
Jonathan Martinez vs. José Aldo Bantamweight Bout
Why did we have to give Aldo a good opponent in his return? This could have been any average Bantamweight but they gave him a killer in Jonathan Martinez. The only way I can see Aldo winning is if he is ripping those kicks early and often, which he has not done in the back half of his career. Martinez has been utilizing those devastating leg kicks and will unfortunately unload on Scarface. This pick brings me no joy.
Jonathan Martinez by Decision -145 1 unit
Anthony Smith vs. Vitor Petrino Light Heavyweight Bout
I do not have much to say here. I do not like Anthony Smith, he is constantly putting down fighters way better than him and claiming they are scared of him. It is ass and he is ass. Vitor Petrino is going to come in here and absolutely maul Lionheart. This may also be a fight I tune into just for shits and gigs.
Vitor Petrino by 1st Round TKO (Prop finish Line) -150 2 units
Michel Pereira vs. Ihor Potieria Middleweight Bout
Ever since Pereira wore that Israeli flag a couple of fights ago I am entirely on his team forever. I don’t care who he fights, I am taking him. Fortunately they gave him a shitty opponent so this one isn’t too tough. Couldn’t find any value in the lines so hoping he just takes this one by submission instead of TKO.
Michel Pereira by Submission (Prop Line) +340 .5 units
Paul Craig vs. Caio Borralho Middleweight Bout
Paul Craig is another dude I love for embracing Jews without having an ounce of Jew in him. Dude comes to get his triangle chokes and it doesn’t matter what time is on the clock when he gets them. Can’t wait to see Caio get overly excited that he is up 2 rounds just to be put to sleep with 1 second left.
Paul Craig by 3rd Round Submission +460 1 unit
