Hej fight fans! I think that’s how they say hello over there, at least that’s what google translate said. We have a fun day of fights ahead of us with an interesting 185 matchup that could determine the next challenger for gold. In a day and age where all of the middleweight talent is is moving up to 205 because of their brutal weight cuts, we welcome fresh names that haven’t been circulating the top 5 for the past 6 years. Speaking of fighters moving up because of brutal weight cuts, how the fuck did Killa Gorilla fight at heavyweight? Makes me wonder about guys like Big Country and how successful they could’ve been if they just dropped the unnecessary weight (as I say with plenty of unnecessary weight all over my body).
A lot of great matches on this card, still wish they did more of these midday Europe cards when there was no college football and I spent my Saturdays drinking the time away. Not that I don’t do that with college football on but I just need more tvs now. I am actually looking forward to betting on this card quite a bit, I have been losing all my bets on other sports, I feel like this card will be able to win me some dinner money. I am changing up the lines I use this week for my blog, usually I pull them straight from oddsshark.com, but I hated the ones they had last week so I am going to use the one my book gives to me. I don’t want to waste anymore time here before getting into the juicy bits, so let’s get this show on the road.

Jack Hermansson vs Jared Cannonier Middleweight Bout
What an awesome matchup they gave us here. Not quite sure if it is main event material, but with the dilution we have from so many cards, this ain’t too shabby. Both of these men have been on a tear in the Middleweight division having knocked off some major competition in their last few bouts. Hermansson has won 4 straight with big wins over David Branch and Jacare Souza. Canonnier has won 2 straight since moving down to 185 with wins over Branch and the GOAT Anderson Silva. Hemannson has become one of the most feared grapplers in this weight class, out grappling BJJ extraordinaire Jacare to get a unanimous decision. Cannonier has brought the punching power of a heavyweight down to middleweight and has put his opponents to sleep with extreme prejudice. I may be crazy, but I am going with Cannonier here. It is an extremely small sample size, but I think he has found his home at 185 and is going to prove he is a force to be reckoned with. He has never been submitted in his career and if he is able to land he is going to put Hermansson to sleep.

Mark Madsen vs Danilo Belluardo Lightweight Bout
This is a big entrance into the UFC as a co-main event for Mark Madsen. He is an Oympic wrestler that has transitioned to MMA and is looking to climb his way into the mainstream in this bout. He comes up against the young italian Danilo Belluardo a young fighter making his second UFC appearance after a loss in June in his debut. I think they gave Madsen a layup here to ease him into the promotion and he should take this one with relative ease.

Gunnar Nelson vs Gilbert Burns Welterweight Bout
In my honest opinion, this should be the main event of the evening. Gunni has had a rough go of things lately with all of his losses having been to great fighters (minus Rick Story) and looks to bounce back in Denmark. Burns has flashes of brilliance in his fights winning 5 out of his last 6 having been KOd by Dan Hooker. In this fight betting wise I would take whoever the underdog is, and on my book it is Gunni. I have no idea how they are making him the dog in this fight since Burns is a late replacement and going into enemy territory but I will happily take it.

Ion Cutelaba vs Khalil Rountree Light Heavyweight Bout
After that shit Ion pulled at the weighin there is no chance in hell i take that guy. You think you are tough for screaming in someone’s face out of nowhere and spooking them? When I was little I would hide behind corners and jump out to scare my parents and even if they jumped back, they could still beat the shit out of me. Fuck Ion, I’m riding with Khalil who I also believe is just a better fighter in general.

Michal Oleksiejczuk vs Ovince Saint Preux Light Heavyweight Bout
I will go on record saying that OSP is the most talented fighter to lose as much as he does. Those Von Flue chokes he pulls off are some of the hardest to apply in combat out of all submission techniques attempted in this sport. He beat Corey Anderson, who is on his way to a title shot, he nearly beat Jon Jones in an interim title bout, then he goes and loses to pretty much anyone else and ruins any progress he has made. Michal Oleksiejasdjfhlkajbf is a young great fighter who hasn’t lost in 5 years (when he was 19). He faced a 1 year USADA suspension for an estrogen suppressant that when he was a late replacement for a fight. I think we see crappy OSP tonight because this fight could greatly benefit his career and he would hate to win one of those.

Nicolas Dalby vs Alex Oliveira Welterweight Bout
Really happy to see Nicolas Dalby back in the UFC after a tough battle with alcoholism and an even tougher battle with a blood soaked canvas. Both these fighters could really use a UFC win this card for their careers to have some certainty behind them. Fake Cowboy looked like he had turned his career around before dropping to straight to Gunni and Platinum. Dalby had an unceremonious exit having battled addiction and 2 straight losses, but he had a good stint with Cage Warriors bringing him back to fight in his hometown. I think Dalby shows that KO power he has and takes this fight away from Cowboy, the story of redemption would be too great to bet against.
